  • Note: Entacapone may cause:

    • urine to be coloured reddish-brown
    • gastro-intestinal upset, particularly diarrhoea.

Formulation:

Tablets 200mg (s)

Dosage:

200mg at the same time as each dose of co-beneldopa or co-careldopa, maximum 2 grams daily.

Dosage:

See SMC advice 2430: as adjunctive therapy to preparations of levodopa/DOPA decarboxylase inhibitors (DDCI) in adult patients with Parkinson’s disease and end-of-dose motor fluctuations who cannot be stabilised on those combinations.
