Getting started
When you are first given access to a newly created toolkit "shell," it will usually be completely empty.
Your first step will be to establish your toolkit settings, as below:
1. Toolkit name: Choose a short succinct name that is easily recognisable for the user. And remember that on the mobile app only two to three words of the name will appear in the directory listing - so don't use up space for example by repeating the name of your organisation at the start. The organisation name will always appear automatically beneath the title. If you are temporarily publishing an unfinished toolkit for any reason, you should also follow the SOP for naming toolkits in development.
2. Toolkit details: This field allows you to edit the fields below.
3. Toolkit disclaimer: This is not mandatory. Please refer to the standard operating procedure "About this toolkit" for information on toolkit disclaimers.
4. Toolkit description: This is also not mandatory, but it is advisable to place a short description here. This will appear above the tiles on the homepage of your toolkit.
5. Toolkit colour: This is a band of colour that appears below the title of your toolkit and before the description and tiles.
6. Tags: This is where you select your organisation and collection tags. If you need new collections or organisations added to the available list, contact his.decisionsupport@nhs.scot
7. Citizen tag: If your toolkit is for citizens, or is a shared decision aid, toggle on the "For citizens" button. This ensures that your toolkit appears in the citizen tile on the RDS web homepage and is available to users of the RDS mobile app who identify themselves as patients or public. It will also be available to professionals.
8. SEO settings: These can be used to optimise search engine indexing. This requires advanced knowledge so we recommend that you do not use it when first setting up your toolkit and seek expert help if you do want to use it later.
9. Protection: If you wish to passcode protect either the toolkit or any part of the toolkit then you need to set the passcode here. You can protect at the whole toolkit level or individual sections and pages within the toolkit. Please refer to the SOP on managing toolkits in development, which indicates that these should be password protected if made visible.
10. Page Settings: This section offers a selection of settings that can be applied to your toolkit, for example protecting content from web/ app view. You can also change your Toolkit Icon as below:
Toolkit icon: This will appear as the main tile image for your toolkit when viewed on the RDS. It will also appear at the top right of each toolkit page. This will generally be your organisation logo. Please refer to the SOP on managing toolkits in development.
11. Toolkit info: You can toggle between the content (as listed above) and the information page which includes the link to the toolkit (when published) and other information about which editors made changes at different times.
