Suspected connective tissue disease

Warning

Patients with positive antibody results in the absence of symptoms may not have underlying disease – can use sci advice if wish to discuss

  • Atypical Raynauds: late onset, digital ulceration
  • SLE: Rash, photosensitivity, oral ulcers, Raynauds, joint pains, chest pain (pleuritic/pericarditis), fatigue, low white cells, low platelets
  • Systemic sclerosis: Raynauds, SOB, indigestion
  • Inflammatory myopathies: Progressive muscle weakness (usually proximal) +/- rashes
  • Sjӧgren syndrome: Dry mouth, dry eyes, parotid or submandibular swelling
