Headaches
Description
Headache in the temple are secondary to pain-related TMD that is affected by jaw movement, function, or parafunction, and replication of this headache occurs with provocation testing of the masticatory system.
History
Headache of any type in the temple.
Headache modified with jaw movement, function or parafunction.
Examination
Confirmation of headache location in the area of the temporalis muscle AND
Report of familiar headache in the temple area with at least one of the following provocation tests:
- Palpation of temporalis muscles OR
- Maximum unassisted or assisted opening, right or left lateral, or protrusive movements
Notes
Headaches often unilateral and ipsilateral to the side of the TMD issue.
Bilateral headache occurs in conjunction with myalgia driven disorder.
