User information for accreditation referencing and measurement uncertainty

Accreditation Referencing on Medical and Testing Lab Reports

UKAS accreditation will be referenced on laboratory reports that include tests within our scope of accreditation as per our accreditation schedule; tests out with accredited scope will not have UKAS accreditation referenced on the report.

On the infrequent event that an unaccredited test forms part of the laboratory report with an accredited test – this will be highlighted on the lab report.

Measurement Uncertainty/Uncertainty of Measurement

The laboratory addresses measurement uncertainty through a robust schedule of Quality Assurance. Measurement Uncertainty can be explained when a measurement during a test gives give rise to errors of measurement in the result. Thus, the results of a measurement reported in the lab is only an estimate of the true value and is only complete when uncertainty from that measurement has been estimated.

Please contact microbiology for more information regarding measurement uncertainty including values attributed to quantitative tests.
