• Proton pump inhibitors
  • Diuretics (particularly Bendroflumethiazide)
    • Note on diuretics – Loop diuretics less commonly cause hyponatraemia with the exception of patients who are over-diuresed and volume deplete. In euvolaemic or clinically overloaded patients loop diuretics are often a helpful component in the treatment of hyponatraemia. Please discuss with a senior if you have any concerns
  • ACE-inhibitors or ATII receptor blockers
  • Antidepressants (SSRIs and TCAs)
  • Trimethoprim and co-trimoxazole
  • Anti-epileptics particularly carbamazepine
  • Hypotonic fluids (eg 0.18% sodium chloride/ 4% dextrose mixed bags).
