Welcome to NHS Borders Eating Disorders Dietitian Ref Help homepage.

The Borders Eating Disorders Advanced Dietetic Practitioner provides a Borders wide service throughout the whole lifecycle to those with a diagnosed eating disorder under the care of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) or their local Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).

A specialist service helping people with diagnosed eating disorders. 

This service is part of the Borders Eating Disorder Service (BEDS) that provides support for adults with eating disorders. 

Who to refer:

We only accept referrals for patients with a diagnosed ED under the care of CAMHS or the CMHT - all patients need to be referred and accepted into those services in the first instance. Please do not refer directly to this service from primary care.

Once under the care of these services patients shall be referred on to the Eating Disorders Advanced Dietetic Practitioner as required.

Who not to refer:

Patients without a suspected or diagnosed eating disorder.

Patients with disordered eating.

 

How to refer: 

Please refer via CAMHS or CHMT; patients need to be accepted to one of these services in the first instance and have a diagnosed eating disorder, prior to any support from BEDS.

All patients must be referred and accepted onto CAMHS or CMHT caseload with an eating disorder diagnosis prior to being seen by the Eating Disorder Advanced Dietetic Practitioner or BEDS.
