Every person in Scotland, should have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life.

Unfortunately for some, ageing has been associated with poor health outcomes, including increased risk of disability, hospital admission, institutional care, or death. The impact on a person’s quality of life is considerable, as well as an increased use of primary care and unplanned secondary care services.

But this is not inevitable. Everybody can experience healthy ageing. Being free of disease or infirmity is not a requirement for healthy ageing either, as many older adults have one or more health conditions that, when well controlled, have little influence on their wellbeing.

Within this section you will find public leaflets and resources to support healthy ageing.
