Pulmonary Rehabilitation Classes

Aim

Individually tailored pulmonary rehabilitation programmes aim to stabilise or improve both the physical and mental wellbeing of the patient by attempting to return the patient to the highest possible level of functional capacity given their respiratory handicap and general medical status.

Objectives

To achieve maximal functional independence in activities of daily living.
To improve the psychological wellbeing of the patient.
To provide appropriate prophylactic advice and education on life style modification for patients, relatives and carers.
To minimise the need for and dependency on Health and Social Services; and other agencies.
Prevent the downward spiral into disability.
