Mild Pancreatitis

Antibiotics should NOT be prescribed.

Severe Acute Necrotising Pancreatitis (greater than 30% necrosis on CT scan)

Refer to Hepatobiliary team.
If patient deteriorates, consider antibiotic treatment as per intra-abdominal sepsis guidance.
Seek advice from ID/Microbiology once cultures available or if patient deteriorates whilst on first line therapy.

Established Infected Pancreatic Necrosis/Infected peri or pancreatic collection

Refer to Hepatobiliary team.
Consider drainage.
Seek advice from ID/Microbiology.
Antibiotic management is based on positive cultures from infected drain fluid.
