Mycoplasma genitalium (Antimicrobial)
- Testing is only available in Highland Sexual Health and some other secondary care settings.
- Refer all cases to Sexual Health for management and partner notification.
- Full STI screening should be offered, to include chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphilis.
- Test +/- treat current partner(s).
- Test of cure is recommended 5 weeks after start of treatment.

Drug details
Confirmed Mycoplasma genitalium infection, uncomplicated infection.
Doxycycline 100mg twice daily, then follow with azithromycin as per below.
7 days
Followed by Azithromycin 1g stat then 500mg once daily for 2 more doses
for 3 days (2g) in total
Moxifloxacin 400mg once daily (see BNF warnings and MHRA Drug Safety Alert (updated 22 January 2024))
