ARU4 Junior Doctor - FY1

FY1 Hours of Duty: 9am-10pm

  • Attend ARU4 at 9.00am to receive handover from night-shift team
  • Attend twice daily consultant ward rounds in ARU4 at 9.00am and 3.30pm
  • Complete as many tasks as possible during the ward round, e.g. requesting blood tests and imaging etc
  • Ensure any blood tests required for the following day are requested on TrakCare before the patient is transferred.
  • Between ward rounds complete any remaining tasks and chase the results of outstanding investigations.
    • Prioritise IDLs for patients who are planned for discharge from ARU4
  • Assist middle-grade doctor with clerking new admissions to ARU4
    • ED admissions require a full clerk-in
    • IAU admissions which have already been seen by a junior doctor or consultant do not require a full clerk in. Brief review of patient and nursing observations to ensure stable, ensure e-med rec done and chase any outstanding results.
    • ENSURE ALL NEW ADMISSIONS HAVE E-MEDICINE RECONCILLIATION COMPLETED. A ‘how to’ guide is available.
    • Note the importance of step 1 and 2
  • Complete any reviews or tasks requested by nursing staff
  • Attend night-shift handover meeting at 9.00pm in the Ward 51 Day room

ARU4 Junior Doctor - Middle Grade Doctor

Middle Grade Doctor Day Shift 9 am to 10 pm, Night Shift 9pm to 10am

Primary area of responsibility: ARU4 (plus Night-shift senior support for ward 2A and ward 8A)

  • Attend ARU4 at 9.00am to receive handover from night-shift team
  • Attend twice daily consultant ward rounds in ARU4 at 9.00am and 3.30pm
  • Between ward rounds support FY1 with completion of any remaining tasks and chasing results of outstanding investigations.
  • Clerk new admissions to ARU4
    • ED admissions require a full clerk-in
    • IAU admissions which have already been seen by a junior doctor or consultant do not require a full clerk in. The just need a brief review of patient and nursing observations to ensure stable and chase any outstanding results.
    • ENSURE ALL NEW ADMISSIONS HAVE E-MEDICINE RECONCILLIATION COMPLETED. A ‘how to’ guide is available.
    • Note the importance of step 1 and 2
  • Complete any reviews or tasks requested by nursing staff
  • Attend night-shift handover meeting at 9.00pm in ward 51 Day Room.
