Undergraduate Medical Education

Our department aims to provide high quality clinical experience to Medical Students.

We need the help of all the doctors in the department to support the students during their time with us on the wards and also as clinical tutors for bedside teaching/tutorials.

Operation Colleague began in 2020 with aim of making undergraduates feel more like a part of the clinical team from the beginning of their clinical attachments. This has been successful this year due to excellent near-peer support from FY1/2 and middle grade doctors.

All doctors involved in undergraduate education/support will receive a certificate to document their input which can be uploaded to eportfolio.

Students will be with us for most of the year and we will email out seeking volunteers for each new block. Thank you in advance for your support.

Academic year:

August-Nov: 4^th years for 12wks

Nov-Feb: 4^th yrs for 12wks

Feb-June: 3^rd yrs 5wk blocks x3

May/June: Preparation for Practise students (5^th yrs)

July: repeat blocks for 4^th yrs
