Gynae theatre
Theatres operate throughout the week as follows:
- Theatre 1: Majors
- Theatre 12: Minors
- Theatre 8: Robot
As with any surgical specialty, it is essential to review patients preoperatively with the consultant. The consultants will see patients at 08:00 or 12:30, followed by attending the brief in theatre.
Patients for Theatre 12 will be in the Day Surgery Unit, located opposite Theatre 12.
Patients for Theatre 1 are typically located on Ward 210.
It is also crucial that the operating team is familiar with the patient's symptoms and expectations prior to surgery, especially in the event of unexpected findings under anaesthesia. Having a clear understanding of the patient's presenting complaint enhances the educational value of the theatre experience. Continuity of care is important, and reviewing the patient after surgery is good practice, improving both patient satisfaction and the overall learning experience.
Theatre lists can be accessed on TRAK by selecting the theatre tab, then choosing the theatre list. Enter the date and consultant's name to view the theatre list for that day.
For Theatre 1 and 8 cases, the list will be available the evening before in the 210 drug room, or you can ask the clerks for assistance.
