  • Anusol® can be used as a soothing preparation for anal and perianal pruritis, soreness and excoriation caused by haemorrhoids, fistulae and proctitis.

 

Compound Haemorrhoidal Preparations With Corticosteroids

Anusol-HC®

  • Anusol–HC® can be used to provide symptomatic relief of haemorrhoids, pruritus ani and anal fissure.
  • Anusol® and Anusol-HC® (as Anusol Plus HC®) can both be purchased over-the-counter. Haemorrhoidal preparations should only be used for a few days at a time since they may cause sensitisation of the anal skin.

Total list (T): Alternative choices when preferred list options not effective/not tolerated, or not indicated.

Specialist initiation (S1): Specialist initiation, or on the advice of a Consultant or Specialist Practitioner in this therapeutic area. Continuation in primary care is acceptable.

Specialist use only (S2): Supply via hospital, Homecare Service or a hospital based prescription (HBP) for dispensing by community pharmacy. Not prescribed in primary care setting.
