Mental Welfare Commission

The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland is an organisation that protects the rights of patients with mental illness.

Their website provides useful information for clinicians about the mental health legislation and what good practice looks like.

They also have an advice line for clinicans. You can use this if you have questions about:

  • the mental health act
  • the incapacity act
  • care and treatment of patients with a mental disorder
