Children and young people will start to grow hair on their body as part of physical changes at puberty. This should be included in discussions about puberty as part of normal development.

Girls and young women can feel social pressure to shave their legs and underarms and to have minimal or no pubic hair. It is helpful to discuss this as a personal choice for people of all genders, not an expectation they need to comply with.
