Warning

Closely spaced pregnancies

  • Women who have very closely spaced pregnancies (within 6 months of a previous pregnancy) are more likely to have a preterm or low birth weight baby.

Previous miscarriage

  • The likelihood of recurrence is low.
  • However, for women who have experienced three or more early losses, referral can be made to a specialist as it may be possible to identify a cause and offer suitable treatment.

Previous preterm birth, low birth weight and stillbirth

  • Women may benefit from referral back to an obstetric team to discuss their individual risks.
