Referral criteria

The Neuropsychology service is an assessment only service.

Neuropsychology assessments are designed to determine whether a person has problems with aspects of thinking such as memory as a result of neurological event such as an acquired brain injury or neurological condition.

Adults of 16 years and over are accepted.

The Neuropsychology Service is a tertiary service and therefore cannot accept direct referrals from primary care; all patients must be under the care of a neurologist.

Exceptions to this may apply, for example if the patient remains under the care of Neurology colleagues nationally and the recommendation has been made for a local Neuropsychology assessment.

If the exception above applies - Refer via SCI Gateway...Mountainhall...Clinical Psychology...Psychology and choose Neuropsychology
