  • Cellulitis involving the orbit
  • Swelling around the eye
  • Impaired eye opening, eye movement or visual acuity

Investigations

  • Blood culture
  • Swab of discharge from superficial lesions for culture

The first dose of CEFTRIAXONE is unrestricted for this indication. To continue therapy beyond 24 hours you will need an authorisation code

CEFTRIAXONE IV 2g 24 hourly

Plus

METRONIDAZOLE PO 400mg 8 hourly
