Cancelling or rearranging an appointment or admission

Warning

If your child cannot come to their appointment (including telephone or video appointments), or their outpatient appointment is unsuitable, please tell us as soon as possible by contacting the Booking Centre:

If contacting us by email you will need to include:

  • Name of child the appointment is for
  • CHI number or Date of Birth
  • Consultant name
  • Date and time of appointment
  • Reason - if unable to attend is a further appointment needed?

You can also use this contact information to check any details of your appointment that you are unsure about.

Please remember that another family may be able to use the appointment if your child cannot come.

If your child is unable to attend an urgent face to face review or is unwell

If your child has a routine appointment the Booking Centre will rearrange this (see contact details above) or contact the department directly if this is your normal process.

If your child has been asked to come to the hospital for an urgent face-to-face review and is unwell please contact the department your appointment is with, or the secretary of the Consultant responsible for your child’s care

  • Before phoning make sure you have your appointment letter with your child’s details ready
  • The appointment letter will tell you who the appointment is with
  • Phone the hospital switchboard on 0141 201 0000 and ask to speak to the department your appointment is with, or if your child has a named Consultant or Health Practitioner ask for their secretary. If you have been given a direct department contact you should use those details.
  • If your child has a day case review in ward 1C please phone the ward on 0141 452 4401

If your child is due to be admitted to the hospital and is unwell

If your child is unwell or has  a fever when they are due to come into hospital you should telephone the secretary of the consultant or health practitioner who is responsible for your child's care. You can find this information on your child's appointment letter.

  • Before phoning make sure you have your appointment letter with your child’s details ready
  • The appointment letter will tell you who the appointment is with
  • Phone the hospital switchboard on 0141 201 0000 and ask to speak to the department your appointment is with, or if your child has a named Consultant or Health Practitioner ask for their secretary. If you have been given a direct department contact you should use those details.
You should not attend your appointment if you or child has symptoms of COVID-19 or any other infection e.g. vomiting or diarrhoea
