We are a busy and dynamic team in medical paediatrics at the Royal Hospital for Children (RCH).

We provide medical assessment and management for children and young people, up until their 16th birthday, living in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.  The unit is one of the busiest paediatric medical departments in the UK.  Our clinical decisions unit has 18 beds and the receiving ward has 40 beds.  The outpatient department is based at RHC, with outreach clinics across Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Our team

Our enthusiastic and friendly medical paediatric team consists of consultant paediatricians, specialty and junior doctors, paediatric advanced nurse practitioners, nursing and administration staff.  We work closely as a team and with our specialty colleagues at RHC, enabling us to provide medical excellence and holistic care to our patients.

The RHC is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Glasgow and medical students are frequently included in our team.  We provide training to junior doctors in conjunction with the Royal Colleges of Paediatrics and General Practitioners.
