IN-PATIENT REFERRALS TO MOVEMENT DISORDER SERVICE, SOUTH SECTOR

[NB] This guide should be used for patients attending OPSS movement disorder clinic or for New referrals >65 years old. If patient is known to Neurology MDC or a New referrals for patient <65 years old refer to Neurology via usual pathway.

How to refer

Please use Trakcare for all referrals.

  1. Select Patient
  2. Select ‘New Request’
  3. Select ‘Other’ Tab
  4. In ‘Item’ box type ‘Parkinson’ which will bring up ‘Parkinson’s/Movement disorder referral’
  5. Select and continue order
  6. Complete referral information and submit

Referrals will be seen Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. If referral is urgent call 0141 301 9870 during working hours to advise referral has been submitted.

If advice is required out of hours please consult GGC Guidelines:

If a patient is attending one of the services above there will be an alert on Trackcare with contact details for the local movement disorder nurse specialist. If the patient attends a Neurology movement disorder clinic you should contact the neurology team if advice is required. The PDNS can be contacted by e-mail or telephone during normal working hours if advice is required.

If you wish to refer a new patient to the service this should be directed to the consultant. If the patient can be reviewed as an outpatient write a referral letter the local consultant. If inpatient review is required e-mail referral to the local movement disorder consultant or e-mail DMEMovement.Disorders@ggc.scot.nhs.uk
