Warning

Clinical Governance is the umbrella term we use to describe all we do to ensure our care is as safe and effective as possible. There is a DME Clinical Governance group that meets every month. Items on the regular agenda include:

  1. Any new safety concerns or policy changes that need implemented
  2. Quality Improvement –update on how our projects & audits are progressing
  3. Morbidity & Mortality – lessons learned from recently discussed cases
  4. Complaint & Significant Adverse Events – lessons learned from recent investigations
  5. Harm Reports – how many falls, pressure damages and drug errors have occurred and what we need to improve upon
  6. Staff Issues – our staffing across the department and other concerns
  7. Financial – is the department meeting its budget targets
  8. Successes – celebrating our good practices

You all play a part, whether you realise it or not, in clinical governance.

If you recognise areas of concern then please contact Dr Burleigh to discuss.
