Contra-indications to gentamicin therapy

• The patient has allergy or hypersensitivity to gentamicin or other aminoglycosides
• myasthenia gravis.

Do not use this calculator for:

• patients treated in Renal units or receiving haemodialysis or haemofiltration
• synergistic treatment of endocarditis or Staphylococcal bone infection
• Patients with:
  • major burns
  • ascites
  • age under 16 years
  • cystic fibrosis (refer to local guidelines) or
  • pregnancy (refer to local guidelines).
