National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH)- bipolar disorder, pregnancy and childbirth

  • NCMH is a Welsh organisation. It provides free mental health leaflets to help people, families and carers  learn more about mental health conditions. This leaflet on bipolar has information on the risks around pregnancy and what to do to reduce the chances of becoming unwell.

A national charity that provides support for people with eating disorders, their family and friends.

OCD UK provides advice, information, and support services for those affected by OCD, and campaigns to end the stigma of OCD.

Postpartum psychosis

Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP)

  • National charity providing information and a peer support service, connecting women and families to recovered volunteers, using an online peer support forum, one-to-one email support, a meeting-a-volunteer programme (Skype and in person), social groups and creative workshops. It is run by a team of academics, health professionals and women who have recovered from postpartum psychosis.

MIND - postnatal PTSD and birth trauma

  • Covers causes, signs and symptoms, treatments and self-care for psychological birth trauma.

Birth Trauma Association

  • The Birth Trauma Association offer support to any parent who’s been traumatised by birth. They have a team of peer supporters: parents (one of whom is a dad) who have all experienced traumatic birth themselves and been through a process of recovery.
