Emergencies
Patients who are felt to require admission for an ENT problem such as tonsillitis should be sent to ED with a letter and a brief email sent to ENT@borders.scot.nhs.uk . There is no need to speak to A&E, ENT or General Surgery. If it is unclear whether a patient needs same day admission, then the case should be discussed with the A&E consultant or the ENT consultant (via ENT secretary).
ENT Outpatient Clinic Referrals
Referrals should be made via SCI Gateway. Where there is particular concern about a patient an email can also be sent to ENT@borders.scot.nhs.uk in addition to the SCI Gateway referral.
Advice
Advice can be obtained by email ENT@borders.scot.nhs.uk. We would hope to respond within 1-2 working days.

Ear wax microsuction
Patients who have ear wax causing symptoms or where removal is required for a diagnosis where ear drops and irrigation have failed or is contraindicated, should be referred to ENT via SCI Gateway.
